Recently I drove down to my hometown of Blacksburg on a spontaneous urge. I was there for less than 12 hours, but I really wanted to take some pictures of the place. I've recently gotten into night photography, so I thought it might be an interesting take on a town that isn't too busy at night but has a lot of light during the night. In the three years I've been gone, it's changed completely. Familiar buildings have been ripped down and replaced, former fields have turned into housing developments, even downtown doesn't look the way it used to. This photograph shows part of the change. The building they are tearing down used to be the designated ROTC dining hall, but now it's going to be the new Center for Arts.
Things Have Changed...
Shadows and Fences.
I visited a construction site in my hometown recently, and the shadow the fence was creating was really intriguing to me. It was the middle of the night and the construction lights cast a very gloomy, quite unusual shadow. This photograph was not converted to black and white, either; these are the original colors of what I was looking at.

Introducing KatFood.
Summer has turned out to be much busier than the typical school schedule, hence the delays in my posting. My good friend Kathleen and I have formed something of a duo for her newest project: her blog!
It's about food, and everyone needs food. She has quite the talent for throwing together great concoctions with the simple things in her college-student kitchen. She makes the cuisine, writes the posts, and I get to take the pictures and savor the deliciousness (I think I might've gotten the better part of the deal). Even so, I am very excited for her and you absolutely MUST see her blog!
You might learn a new recipe or two while you're there :)
As some enticement, here are some snapshots of the lovely food she has made so far:
Avocado, Pineapple, Spinach, Yogurt, Orange Juice, Honey Smoothie (Delicious!)
Chickpea Burger with Avocado and Brie, and Sweet Potato Fries with Spicy Mayo (YUM!)
