Street

Custom Ceiling.

One of the things I have come to appreciate since leaving my childhood town are the marks I've made from living there.  This is the ceiling of a local restaurant in Blacksburg.  Anyone can go and paint a ceiling tile; after it dries, it will make its way into the ceiling.  I've painted two of them myself, and some of them look incredible.  I always feel a little more at home in this place than the other chains in town knowing this is a truly "local" hangout.

Things Have Changed...

Recently I drove down to my hometown of Blacksburg on a spontaneous urge.  I was there for less than 12 hours, but I really wanted to take some pictures of the place. I've recently gotten into night photography, so I thought it might be an interesting take on a town that isn't too busy at night but has a lot of light during the night. In the three years I've been gone, it's changed completely.  Familiar buildings have been ripped down and replaced, former fields have turned into housing developments, even downtown doesn't look the way it used to. This photograph shows part of the change.  The building they are tearing down used to be the designated ROTC dining hall, but now it's going to be the new Center for Arts.
